The Women’s Economic and Social Empowerment Program was designed with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented by Pathfinder International in partnership with the private sector and civil society initiatives. The program aims to encourage women’s participation as an active workforce in society by stimulating demand for financial services, promoting market-based and specially designed solutions to economically empower women, and enhancing efforts to prevent and respond to violence against women, thereby fostering both economic and social empowerment.
The program’s interventions are tailored to support women in the targeted governorates of Assiut, Beheira, Cairo, Giza, Minya, Qena, and Sohag, ensuring that they feel safe, valued, and empowered in the workplace, while being aware of and capable of adopting concepts of financial independence, and free from violence in their homes, communities, and workplaces.
Additionally, the program works closely with market partners to develop, lead, scale, and sustain innovative solutions while considering the economic and social benefits of gender-inclusive policies and practices. It also collaborates closely with relevant Egyptian government partners, including the Ministry of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and the National Council for Women, to ensure alignment with national priorities and initiatives.
