The “Poorest of the Poor” Housing Improvement Grant is a core part of the Evangelical Association for Sustainable Development’s efforts
The “Beity Amani” program has been implementing housing improvement loans at the Evangelical Association for Sustainable Development since 1998, funded by Habitat for Humanity Egypt. The program aims to correct and improve the housing environment and raise community awareness about housing issues, including hygiene practices, personal cleanliness, and the concept of “adequate housing.”
The program applies the Housing Eco-System approach, which highlights the interrelationships between various issues—such as poverty, inadequate services, and infrastructure—and different conditions, including socio-economic, political, and geographical factors, as well as multiple sectors like construction, economy, water and sanitation, personal hygiene, land, materials, energy, disaster risk reduction and response, and more.
The housing ecosystem encompasses the interactions and connections between people, places, systems, and structures related to housing, aiming to provide solutions that go beyond the four walls and a roof.
