EASD Participates in Roundtable on Digital Safety and Legal Protection for Women and Girls in Minya

The Evangelical Association for Sustainable Development in Minya (EASD) participated in an event organized by the Women’s Issues Foundation in Minya as part of the Digital Safety for Women and Girls Project, represented by Ms. Marian Hanna Roosevelt, Director of Development and Women Empowerment at the Association.

The participation was part of a roundtable discussion on digital safety mechanisms and legal protection frameworks, held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Horus Resort, Minya. The discussion focused on key issues including:

  • Types and forms of digital violence against women and girls.

  • Challenges faced by survivors when reporting incidents.

  • The role of current legislation, particularly the Unified Law on Combating Violence Against Women, in providing effective protection tools.

  • Opportunities to improve policies and legislation to ensure comprehensive protection against all forms of violence, especially online, and to accelerate the enactment of more effective laws.

The panel included Dr. Gamal Atef, Professor of Civil Law and Coordinator of the Anti-Violence Unit at Minya University, and Mr. Mahmoud Abdel-Fattah, Supreme Court Lawyer and Legal Expert, moderated by Ms. Sabah Ramadan, North Upper Egypt Radio presenter. The event also involved the National Council for Women in Minya, the Anti-Violence Unit at Minya University, and the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Law.

EASD’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting the protection of women and girls, raising awareness of digital safety, and promoting women’s rights in the local community.
